Location: 2000 Wentworth Street, Whitby, Ontario
Position Type: Permanent Part-Time
Reporting: Site Supervisor
Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturdays as required
Rate: $23.43 per hour

What you will do:
In the position of Compactor Operator, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Hook up trailers to any or all of the compactors.
- Required to clean the compactor room.
- Inspect and remove obvious contamination from loads.
- General housekeeping duties, yard clean up,
- Preform and document inspections and maintenance on the machinery prior to the facility opening for the day.
- Comply with ISO procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and all Health and Safety Regulations and Policies.
- Inspecting the workplace for hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions.
- Fill in for any vacations or sick calls, while providing continuous support in all other called upon responsibilities.
- Ensure that all work is performed safely, cost effectively and in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the entire outside grounds and the facility inside are clean and organized at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you should have:
In the position of Compactor Operator, your requirements will include but are not limited to:
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Proven record of providing excellent customer service.
- Punctual with good attendance.
- Strong multitasking and priority management skills, with the proven ability to organize and to successfully plan work tasks in order of importance and criticality to business operations.
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Must be a collaborative team player.
- In this position, there are routine occupational requirements that would require the successful applicant to stand for long periods of time and be exposed to the different weather elements; adherence to properly wearing and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is essential.
- Flexibility is also required as this position requires early starts, delayed finishes, weekend work, as well as providing sick and holiday staff coverage, with occasional days outside of the regular schedule on Saturdays.
What would be ‘nice-to-have’:
- Previous compactor experience is a major asset (but not required).
- Previous experience operating a Skid Steer will be preferential.
- Knowledge with pre-trip inspections and maintenance of equipment.
