Position Description
Position Summary This position provides leadership to the front line staff regarding the activities of patient food services including: meal service, ware washing, nourishment preparation and distribution, inventory management and food distribution between sites. Responsible for supervising the day to day operations to ensure timely, microbiologically safe, accurate and cost effective provision of meal service to the patients and clients.
Qualifications
- College program required with a focus on Nutrition, Dietetics or Food & Nutrition Management preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or Applied Food Science is preferred
- Eligibility for membership in Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) is an asset
- Preferred experience with Nutrition interfacing programs
- 1 – 3 years practical and related experience with a minimum of one year on the job training
- Must be able to be self directed and self motivated
- Must have the ability to prioritize and complete tasks within given time restraints
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with food safety and sanitation
- Must have conflict resolution skills
- Must be proficient with MS Office
- Must have understanding of WHMIS
- Experience in a unionized setting is an asset
- Must possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities Some responsibilities include:
- Oversee the department staffing
- Perform quality management responsibilities
- Manage unit/department financial resources
- Perform corporate management responsibilities that support and advance SJHH’s goals
- Develop, implement and maintain departmental procedures
- Ensure ingredient database is current for dietary compliancy
- Other duties as assigned
