Hours of Work: 42 hours per week
Classification: Management Class 3
Status: Permanent full-time

The Opportunity:
The Platoon Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the daily/shift operations of the service,
paramedic personnel and associated resources on a rotating shift basis to ensure efficient delivery of patient
care consistent with the requirements of the Ambulance Act and related legislation. This position will follow the
platoon schedules and work 84 hour per pay period (7 x 12 hours shifts consisting of days and nights).
What you will do:
• Support, coach, direct, evaluate and hold staff accountable for performance through direct observation and
review of job performance, by using strong communication.
- Support the Commanders in operational portfolios including but not limited to Emergency Response,
Logistics, Quality/Education/Professional Development, and Community Paramedicine.
- Support the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of policies and procedures and
reports aligned with goals and objectives
What you will need:
• Certification as a Primary or Advanced Care Paramedic and certified under a Base Hospital to perform
delegated acts.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.
- Ability to interpret and apply employment policies & collective agreements.
- Working knowledge of the Ambulance Act and its associated regulations and standards, Occupational
Health & Safety Act, Emergency Management Civil Protection Act, and other related legislation.
