Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with diverse abilities in Penticton and surrounding communities. We provide support and services for people with intellectual disabilities, seniors, low-income adults, families, and persons facing homelessness.

POSITION DETAILS

We are filling two vacancies:

Posting #1386: Temporary Part Time (20hr) Residence Worker position reporting to the appropriate Coordinator in the group home setting.

The schedule will be as follows:

Sunday: 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Monday: 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Tuesday: 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm

This is a fixed schedule for the position.

Posting #1379: Permanent Part Time (32hr) Residence Worker position reporting to the appropriate Coordinator in the group home setting.

The schedule will be as follows:

Thursday : 2:00pm - 10:00 pm
Friday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Saturday: 2:00 pm - 10:00pm
Sunday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm

This is a fixed schedule for the position.

The Job Description for the Residence Worker position is as follows:

The Residence Worker assists clients in successfully living in a group home setting. The worker ensures that clients' physical, emotional, social, educational, and medical needs are met. The worker also assists clients in enhancing their quality of life with daily living activities and life skills development. This includes tasks such as food preparation, medication administration and providing personal care.

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of a diploma or equivalent certification in a related human/social service field or recreation course.
  • One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Fluency in ASL or willingness to obtain

OTHER EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid CPR/First Aid,
  • Valid Food Safe
  • Class 4 Unrestricted BC License
  • Satisfactory criminal record check-working with vulnerable adults
  • Medical Clearance for Fitness to Work
  • Negative TB Skin Test

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

Interpersonal skills, communication skills, analyzing and judgment ability, physical capabilities, initiative/ independence, honesty, work standards, team orientation, stress tolerance and acceptance of working conditions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $26.83-$29.76 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Penticton, BC V2A 1W9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (required)
