About The Role It is the responsibility of the Team Lead to lead the activities of production and operation workers on their assigned shift. The Team Lead shall ensure that production schedules are followed and completed on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expedite production and manage workflow to ensure that all targets are met on time and to quality standards
  • Monitor and report on the performance of team members to the Manufacturing Manager
  • In absence of Manufacturing Manager: Assigns work for plant staff, ensures production is controlled and maintained
  • Responsible for resolving minor conflicts between employees or addressing minor performance issues. All such incidents are to be reported to their manager. The Manufacturing Manager shall be informed as soon as possible, so that an investigation and the determination of any formal disciplinary action can be completed.
  • Oversee their assigned shift in a professional manner, ensuring compliance with labour standards, health and safety policies, corporate standards, skills and training, housekeeping, and efficiency/productivity
  • Ensures plant workers perform their duties in a safe manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by applicable government Acts and Regulations, including ensuring the use of the appropriate protective equipment.
  • Must become familiar with the rules and safety programs applicable, follow prescribed health and safety policies and procedures and participate in the process of identifying, reporting, and assisting in eliminating risks to the health and safety in the workplace.
  • Advises Health and Safety Committee and management of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health and safety of the worker.
  • Follow all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve Production Planning issues created by material/component shortages and changing production schedules
  • Look for opportunities and adhere to practices for reduction of waste and materials
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Provide an environment that cultivates and enforces continuous improvement, open communication, and superior customer service
  • Make decisions in a timely manner, under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion and within budget
  • Work with other Team Leads to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Report anticipated and actual deviances from the plan to the Manufacturing Manager and Customer Service immediately
  • Ensure all product is built in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements
  • Identifies and communicates with the management team potential risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Generate and communicate the job rotation schedule for the shift ensuring team members have the skill and ability to complete the job
  • Assist with break relief as required
  • Assist with QA and print set-up as required
  • Cover any manpower shortages to ensure the schedule is attained
  • Complete new operator training and paperwork
  • Allocate foils and work orders into the proper bins for the material handlers
  • Create labels as required for moulding and finished goods
  • Complete monthly attainment folder at the end of each shift for dispensers and inserts
  • Record cover scrap at the end of each shift
  • Update the planning schedule to reflect production progress throughout the shift
  • Review and sign all work orders at the end of each shift to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Complete SAP production entries
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

Required Experience You’ll Bring

  • Previous manufacturing supervisory skills acquired through previous work experience with injection moulding equipment.

Preferred Experiences And Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of company product line, product codes, packaging, supplies, equipment, and inventory control of these items.
  • Supervisory courses are an asset.
  • WHMIS and health and safety training an asset.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations an asset
  • Motor skills and manual dexterity to assemble product and operate plant equipment.
  • Interpersonal/negotiating skills to deal with team members within and across departments
  • Demonstrated sound judgement in decision-making
  • Basic mathematical skills to conduct inventory count
  • Verbal communication skills to deal with fellow workers
  • Written communication skills to prepare production reports
  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, procedure manuals and personnel policies
  • Current First Aid certification an asset
  • Must be willing to take part in QA and Print set up training at Dispensing if not already trained
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.

Job Requirements

  • 40 hours per week
  • Must be open to work various shifts
  • This position is not eligible for remote work
  • This position is not eligible for relocation
