About the role

Are you outgoing, organized, and ready to rally support for a cause that changes lives? If you're energized by connecting with people, sharing a mission, and building relationships in the community, this is the role for you.

Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support our Fundraising and Outreach Department. This is an ideal position for someone who isn’t just comfortable speaking to others — but thrives on it. We need a motivated, friendly, and fearless communicator who’s ready to be a champion for affordable housing and help us grow our network of donors, supporters, and local businesses.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Business & Donor Outreach
  • Support fundraising efforts by reaching out to local businesses to request donations of goods, services, or sponsorships for upcoming events. Make stewardship calls to thank donors, share updates, and help maintain strong, lasting relationships.
  • Fundraising Support & Data Management
  • Prepare tax receipts, maintain donor databases, and assist with tracking campaign progress and fundraising metrics.
  • Event Promotion & Community Engagement
  • Assist with event planning tasks, help promote our campaigns, and engage with the public to raise awareness of Habitat’s work.
  • Social Media & Storytelling Support
  • Help draft and schedule posts that share the impact of our work and encourage community participation.
  • Office Organization & Administration
  • Keep records up to date, manage filing systems, and ensure a tidy, welcoming office environment.

Who You Are:

  • A confident communicator who enjoys building relationships and asking for support
  • Comfortable making phone calls, speaking in person, and representing Habitat in a professional and enthusiastic way
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Familiar with social media and basic office tools (training provided if needed)
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is a strong asset

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience in nonprofit fundraising, community relations, and event support — all while helping build brighter futures through affordable housing.

This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection, and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is a non-profit, faith-based organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Our mission is to engage volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting home ownership as a way to break the cycle of poverty.

The HFHWE ReStore sells new and gently used building materials, appliances, and solid surface furniture that have been donated by strategic partners and individual donors in our community. Funds generated in our ReStore cover all of HFHWE's operating costs and a large portion of our construction costs - ensuring that every penny of every dollar donated goes to building projects right here in Windsor-Essex County.
