Reports To Manager, Programming and Public Services

Location Central – Lindsay
Hours Part-time, approximately 6-24 hours per week
Other Hours include evenings and weekends.
Job Description
- Arrange returned materials on book carts and shelves them in proper order
- Read library shelves to ensure material is in correct order
- Assist at circulation desk and perform check-in and check-out procedures
- Repair and clean library material
- Assist with preparation of craft material for children’s library programs
- Provide general library information to library patrons
- Empty book drop and take returned items to proper place for check-in
- Assist with cleaning and dusting of library shelves
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/Education Required
- Two years secondary education, with previous library experience as an asset
- Must be familiar with the public library system
- Ability to sort efficiently in alphabetic, numeric or alphanumeric order, and to develop a working understanding of the Dewey Decimal and other systems of library materials arrangement
- Ability to prioritize work load and to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public and staff
- Excellent written communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
- Demonstrated customer-service skills at a level to develop and to maintain co-operative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization
- Effective organizational skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search will be required
