PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Claims Examiner will dispatch all new claim assignments to the appropriate Independent Adjuster based on type of loss, location of loss and expertise of the adjuster. In addition, the Claims Examiner will predominantly examine or review all reports on claim files where an Independent Adjuster has been appointed to handle the claim. This position is also the owner of subscription claims adjusted by Independent Adjusters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
New Claims Dispatch
- Review first notice of loss received from Claim Supervisory Group.
- Review the information received on the notice of loss, confirm coverage details such as loss type and location.
- Determine the appropriate Independent Adjuster and assign the claim accordingly.
- Create an exposure which also includes setting the reserve
Report Review
- Extensively review all reports/correspondence received from Independent Adjusters to ensure the adjuster has completed a thorough investigation including all documentation as per Red River Mutual protocol.
- Review estimates to ensure quantum is justified based on the extent of the damage.
- Provide direction, confirm coverage, authorize estimates/recommendations, and provides alternate options to settle losses.
- Discuss unusual or more complex losses with the Claims Manager to make sure Red River Mutual protocol is being adhered to.
- Responsible for subscription files; providing direction and/or participate in discussion with subscribers as needed.
- Work within a per-defined authority level, any transactions outside of this authority escalate for further review and approval.
Stakeholder Visitations
- Complete per-determined number of broker visits per year.
- Complete per-determined number of Independent Adjuster visits per year.
- Participate in industry events such as Red River Mutual Golf Tournament, IBAM conference trade show, and any other applicable vendor relation events.
- Visits are encouraged to continue relationship building with Red River Mutual Stakeholders.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- 1+ years in claims experience within the P&C insurance industry
- CIP designation is preferred
- High school diploma required
- Post-secondary education in business or related field is considered an asset
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication across mediums (verbal, written and oral) are required
- Time management and prioritization
