About the role

Applications are invited for the position of Regular Part Time (RPT) Placement Officer in the School of Community Services, located in the Peel Region. The starting salary is $33.26/hr for a 24-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. This position is term specific and start date of the appointment is September 2, 2025 for a three-year term. The successful candidate must reside or be willing to commute to Peel Region. Some remote work will be available.

Reporting to the PACE Program Manager and Associate Dean, School of Community Services, the Placement Officer sets up, organizes, implements, and monitors the field placement process for the Professional Advancement of Careers in Early Childhood Education (PACE) program. This initiative is a collaboration between Niagara College and Peel Region as a workforce strategy for the early years sector.

They act as a resource for students, placement agencies, and faculty, to support the completion of the field experience portion of this program. They work collaboratively with related college departments and community partners to achieve this goal. This position requires organizing, implementing, and monitoring the overall field placement experience; maintaining student files and miscellaneous correspondence for the program as it relates to placement.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a PACE team member and the primary contact for students, faculty, and field placement agencies
  • Distributing and collecting documentation with respect to placement (placement contract, placement evaluations)
  • Contacting agencies, coordinating interviews, sending documentation (placement packages) to agencies
  • Tracking placement contracts, evaluations, keeping up to date student placement files; updating student requirements
  • Facilitating placement preparation learning experience for students; completing individual placement plans for each student
  • Maintain and update a database of placement agencies.
  • Visiting each student on-site during their placement experience
  • Discussing performance of the student with the student and the supervisor
  • Participating in program recruitment and promotional events in Peel.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-year diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience as an established Early Childhood Educator who has a vast knowledge and a variety of experiences working with children ages 0-12, families and students
  • Ability to build, foster, and maintain professional relationships with students, staff and community partners
  • Skilled at recognizing the unique needs of host agencies/providers
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Learning Management Systems and Windows applications
  • High level of organizational, problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Professional attitude with a focus on quality service, confidentiality, ethical behaviours
  • Excellent recording/tracking skills

This position is open to internal employees. INTERNAL employees are classified as Regular Part Time (RPT) in the bargaining unit.
