Working within the Business and Productivity Portfolio, the contract instructor will deliver the term-long Introduction to Business course to students pursuing entry into the JR Shaw School of Business at NAIT.
Instructors must be willing to travel to the NAIT main campus three days a week for 1-2 hours at a time to teach in-person, in addition to being able to instruct online an additional three days a week for 1-2 hours at a time. All the instructions are during the day, during the week.
The successful candidate will possess experience and subject matter expertise relating to the following:
- A broad base of business knowledge and experience across all facets of business (marketing, finance, logistics, human resources, ethics, entrepreneurship, the Canadian business landscape, globalization);
- senior level managerial knowledge and leadership experience;
- the understanding and ability to relate past and current economic, cultural, and geopolitical events to foundational business skills being developed in this course;
- a variety of applied business and industry experiences that can be used to enrich the course material, serve as case study discussions and in-class activities.
Candidates will have taught courses previously and have an active learning focus as part of their course delivery capabilities.
Contract Instruction Deliverables:

Provide direct instruction utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment.

Utilize appropriate education technology for communications and presentations.

Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues; respond professionally to student issues and concerns; submit marks/records promptly.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and master’s degree (one in business at a minimum) plus 5 years or more of mid-to-senior level business experience.
- Experienced with the training and facilitation of adult learners in a face-to-face and online environment using a variety of engagement techniques.
- A NAIT Training and Instructional Development (formerly BMI) certificate would be a definite asset.
- Skilled in MS Office suite, MS Teams and other collaboration tools.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Candidates selected for an interview will be required to prepare and present a lesson on a provided topic.
