Position Details
- Start Date: August 27, 2025
- End Date: June 25, 2026
- Location: Provost Public School, Provost, Alberta
- Hours: 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday, following the school calendar (with the potential for more hours)

Qualifications and Desired Experience
The ideal candidate should possess the following:

A diploma in Childhood or Educational Assistant programs (preferred)

Experience working with individuals with special needs, including children or adults

Familiarity with supporting individuals who experience:
- Language delays.
- Behavioural challenges.
- Emotional dysregulation.
- Fine and gross motor delays.

Ability to provide support with personal hygiene and other care needs as required.

Training in SIVA or other non-violent crisis intervention strategies (considered an asset)
Primary Responsibilities
Under the direction of the teacher, the successful candidate may be required to provide the following :
Educational Support:
- Deliver educational instruction tailored to the needs of identified students, including researching, preparing, and organizing materials and supplies.
- Assist in student data collection, monitor progress, and provide observations and recommendations to the classroom or Inclusive Learning Teacher.
- Modify classroom and curriculum materials to meet individual or group needs collaboratively
Student Development:
- Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, and life skills to foster independence.
- Assist with integration and transitions within the regular school system or into work/community environments.
- Help students with specialized supports, including assistive devices, equipment, or approved service animals, per Administrative Procedure 205.1 AP.
Personal Care:
- Attend to students' personal needs, including feeding, hygiene, toileting, and other personal care.
Team Collaboration:
- Participate in professional learning and specialized training as required by the school or Central Services.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to implement prescribed exercises and programs.
- Provide input during team or parent meetings as appropriate.
Supervision:
- Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times, such as in classrooms, gyms, on playgrounds, or during field trips
Advocacy and Communication:
- Act as a liaison or advocate for students as needed.
- Share relevant program or student information with other staff members.
Health and Safety:
- Administer medication in compliance with Administrative Procedure 203.1 AP (Administration of Medication/Medical Assistance to Students).
- Follow Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to ensure safety for staff and students.
Other Duties:
- Perform other comparable duties as assigned within the scope of the job's knowledge and skills. Comfortable working in a split-grade classroom (an asset).
