Position Overview:

As a Powertrain NDT (Non-destructive Testing) Technician, you will be responsible for efficiently and effectively inspecting component parts from the powertrain product line.

Job Description:

  • Identify component parts that fail to meet OEM specifications
  • Clearly document required scope of repairs and prepare documentation needed by Production, Materials Management and other staff
  • Performing NDT inspection methods on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in accordance with OEM and CAT NDT specifications
  • Accurately qualifying parts for re-use. In the event a part cannot be reused as is, document the specific salvage process and scope of needed repairs

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months working Wage Grade 7 or higher. Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered. Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C
  • Previous experience working on Powertrain components is an asset
  • Training in magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic and other non-destructive test procedures is an asset
  • Must be able to work independently efficiently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to use and interpret SIS Web or any CAT related documentation
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and a high attention to detail are required
  • Strong organizational skills/computer skills
  • Ability to lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures

Note:

  • This posting is for a static day shift; Monday – Thursday, 10 hours per day
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

  • Hourly Rate: $41.20 – 51.50 / Hour
