About the role

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations by conducting tests, collecting data, and ensuring quality control measures are met. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of laboratory processes and contributing to valuable research outcomes.

· Execute experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance with minimal levels of input from the Project Lead.

· Analysis of data generated from experiments using various methods, including numerical methods, and generate thoughtful interpretations of the collected information.

· Perform follow-up experiments based on results from previous experiments as discussed

· Follow lab standard operations procedures to ensure and maintain peak performance of lateral flow assay (LFA) development lab equipment and stock of standard reagents.

· Maintain excellent organizational skills required for maintenance of notebook records, electronic records of SOPs and VTRs

· Present data and findings at weekly meetings

· Participation in regulatory and manufacturing activities for commercialization and audits.

· Follow all health and safety policies and procedures; especially when handling biological specimens in a BSL-2 laboratory.

· Documentation per GLP, GMP and ISO guidelines.

· Perform other duties such as ordering reagents as requested.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for Career starter program offered by Biotalent Canada.
  • MSc Biomedical Engineering /Biochemistry/ or related Science with industrial experience. Must have ELISA assay experience, protein purification, antibody conjugation, solution preparation, assay development skills.
  • Having Lateral Flow/ Vertical flow/ aptamer ImmunoAssay development experience is an asset.
  • Must know graphpad PRISM/or other statistical packages.
  • Must have sense of commitment/ responsibility and demonstrate enthusiasm towards R&D.
  • Bio-related laboratory skills, such as buffer preparation, pipetting, and aseptic technique.
  • ISO13485:2016 Knowledge is considered desirable.
  • Basic algebraic, statistical and mathematical skills.
  • Experience with handling biological specimens in a BSL-2 laboratory.
  • Ability and commitment to work to deadlines as part of a team.
  • Possess problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have a sense of responsibility and commitment.
  • Good verbal and written communication; and interpersonal skills including open and timely communication of results and project status to the project supervisor.
  • Knowledge of experimental design & interpretation.
  • Ability to multitask, handle frequently changing job functions, and rapidly learn new techniques and approaches within a reasonable time frame.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Must be located in Calgary.
