Job Overview We are recruiting Concrete Carpenters to join our team at the BHP Jansen Potash Mine in Jansen, SK. This position is based on a 14/7 rotation and is camp-based at the Jansen Discovery Lodge.
The Concrete Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing concrete structures and forms. This role requires expertise in working with concrete materials, formwork, and associated tools, ensuring that all work meets quality standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Be able to comprehend blueprint readings and prepare layouts.
- Understand industrial concrete forming, be able to build concrete forms, and other structures.
- Complete rough and finishing carpentry tasks, while utilizing appropriate math skills.
- Check completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location.
- Flatwork finishing experience is an asset.
- Experience working on Industrial construction sites and the use of hand tools and equipment.
- Possess physical strength and endurance.
- Good collaboration with team members, following instructions and safety rules.
- Responsible for operating electrical, air-powered, and regular hand tools during projects.
- Responsible for carrying out general construction labor tasks
- Provide support with fabrication during projects
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to concrete work
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in concrete carpentry
- Preference will be given to a Journeyperson Carpenter Ticket from a recognized provincial training authority or be a Registered Carpenter Apprentice.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
- Physical stamina and strength to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy materials
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work outdoors and in variable weather conditions
- Valid driver's license.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Must be fit-for-duty.
- Must be immediately eligible/able to work in Canada.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing including marijuana.
