Our client is a well-established and growing public accounting firm based in the Waterloo Region, serving a diverse client base that includes private enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, charities, and individuals. With over three decades of experience, the firm is known for its collaborative culture, high-quality service, and commitment to professional growth.
They are currently seeking a motivated Accounting & Assurance Manager to join their leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, manage complex engagements, and lead a team of professionals in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and review assurance engagements (audit, review, compilation) to ensure accuracy and adherence to professional standards
- Lead planning, budgeting, and file reviews for assigned engagements
- Manage client relationships, attend meetings, and prepare related correspondence and deliverables
- Provide clear direction and feedback to staff during file reviews and engagement execution
- Review and assist in the preparation of complex corporate and personal tax returns
- Handle technical accounting and tax issues independently when required
- Mentor junior staff, provide performance feedback, and participate in the annual review process
- Conduct internal training sessions and contribute to firm-wide best practices
- Monitor team workload, support scheduling and staffing decisions, and assist in evaluating staff performance
- Maintain frequent communication with partners regarding engagement progress, issues, and milestones
- Participate in partner-level meetings and strategic planning as needed
- Support client development initiatives and help grow the firm’s assurance and tax service offerings
What You Bring:
- CPA designation in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting
- Advanced knowledge of assurance standards and Canadian tax laws
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on coaching and development
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Desire to contribute to the firm’s growth and potentially pursue a path to partnership
- Proficiency with CaseWare, CaseView, CCH iFirm, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks or Sage
