A large and complex organization, eHealth is comprised of 30+ clinical and non-clinical program (service) areas that all work together to support health care providers and teams across the province in delivering the best possible care to patients, providers, citizens, and health system users. Programs range from primary care to acute care, and includes laboratories, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics. Additional programs that also support patient care and information include Virtual Care, the MySaskHealthRecord, and the Provincial Electronic Health Record. eHealth is also responsible for the administration of various pieces of legislation to manage the registration of/changes to all vital event records (e.g., birth, marriage, death, etc.), registration of legal name changes, registration of adoptions, and for maintaining the provincial health registry for health services eligibility and distribution of health services cards.
The eHealth teams engage directly with health system partners and other stakeholders both provincially and federally to ensure all services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
About the Role: Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, eHealth Saskatchewan is looking for an experienced and results oriented accounting professional to work as an important member of our dynamic finance team. The finance team is growing with exciting opportunities to build out new processes and work as a business partner to provide financial expertise to our internal stakeholder groups.
The Opportunity – Financial Consultant: This is an exciting opportunity for an Accounting professional to become a trusted business partner in budgeting and forecasting. This is a challenging and engaging role with a complex group of stakeholders and functions. The successful candidate will support a variety of departments. Our team consists of two Senior Financial Consultants and one other Financial Consultant. We are a fun, creative, and engaged team that is looking for another individual that is passionate about the work they do and ready to step in and help support the health system needs.
The individual we are looking for will have strong personal motivation, excellent self-awareness, and high-quality accounting skills to lead this work and be a successful member of the Finance team. Some of this work includes:
- Provide analysis for budget development and act as an advisor to managers in formulating their budget submissions.
- Prepare and analyze a monthly rolling forecast with business partners.
- Working with multiple divisions to understand pricing requirements and contracts associated with the use of eHealth’s costing mode.
- Identify process improvements and bring them to the attention of the Director, Financial Management.
- Mentor, train, and coach team members on policies, procedures and work standards.
- Oversee the Year-end close process with the unit. Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled, accrual calculations are created and all required journal entries are complete and accurate.
The ideal candidate will be a resilient leader who demonstrates the ability to:
- Recognize financial accounting and management issues and their implications.
- Independently, or as a team member, work on a range of initiatives including financial statements, budget development, monthly forecasting.
- Prioritize one’s workload to meet critical deadlines and service levels in an evolving work environment.
- Develop financial management policies and procedures to improve internal controls and accountability.
- Conceptualize feasible alternatives, assess options, and recommend solutions.
- Display excellent oral and written communication adaptable to non-financial audiences.
- Demonstrate superior analytical skills.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration with a focus in Finance and/or Accounting.
- CPA designation.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience related to forecasting and budgeting.
- Excellent oral and written communication adaptable to non-financial audiences.
- Proven experience with financial accounting and reporting standards.
