JOB OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Technician to support field and lab-based testing projects throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to start or grow their career in construction quality control, civil engineering, or geotechnical testing.
The successful candidate will perform field soil compaction testing , concrete sampling and testing , and may assist with lab testing and pile inspections . Training will be provided for the right candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct on-site soil compaction testing using nuclear density gauges (training provided)

Perform field concrete testing , including slump, air, and temperature measurements
-
Support lab testing of soils and aggregates

Assist with pile inspection and monitoring as required

Record, organize, and report test results accurately

Ensure all test procedures meet project specifications , industry standards , and safety protocols

Maintain and calibrate testing equipment

Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams

Participate in regular safety meetings and comply with all company safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or related field

Valid driver’s license with clean driving abstract
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions

Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and early mornings
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Excellent documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills

Safety-conscious mindset
-
Experience with CCIL certifications or previous materials testing (co-op/internship) is a strong asset , but not required
