We’re hiring Facility Maintenance Attendants to help keep our community centres and ice rinks clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

As a Facility Maintenance Attendant, you’ll be a vital part of the team that keeps everything running smoothly — from setting up events to maintaining the ice and outdoor spaces.

What You'll Do Event & Activity Support

  • Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for sports, meetings, and special events
  • Ensure all areas are clean, organized, and ready for the next scheduled activity

Facility & Grounds Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, changerooms, hallways, and activity areas
  • Restocking essential supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
  • Regularly removing garbage and recycling to maintain a tidy environment
  • Maintaining outdoor areas through sweeping, litter pickup, and snow removal as needed
  • Assisting facility operators and lead hands with general maintenance tasks and special projects

Customer Service

  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns, including providing directions and information about the facility
  • Address service requests from staff and customers in a timely and helpful manner
  • Greet and interact with customers in a friendly, respectful, and approachable manner
  • Maintain a calm and courteous attitude, even in busy or challenging situations

Ice Rink Support

  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining a smooth, safe ice surface
  • Set up nets, temporary boards, and other rink equipment as needed
  • Help keep rink areas clean, organized, and safe for all users

Health & Safety

  • Proactively identify and report health and safety issues
  • Ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed
  • Communicate delays or complications clearly and promptly
  • Assist in emergencies (e.g. power outages)

What We’re Looking For

  • No previous experience required — we provide full training
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in active and occasionally cold environments (like ice rinks)
  • Physically able to lift/move equipment and stay on your feet during shifts
  • Employees are required to wear CSA approved Green Patch safety footwear while working for the Corporation and will be required to supply footwear at their own expense.

Please note that successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment. Successful applicants will be expected to provide their own ice skates, green patch work boots and purchase the Town of Oakville Uniform. DATED: July 10, 2025
