As an integral member of the Finance Team, the Controller is an experienced, business-minded professional with an entrepreneurial spirit. We are looking for someone to oversee and manage financial reporting of our accounting department reporting to our VP of Finance.
What You’ll Do
- Assisting with the full accounting cycle, leading month end close process for several portfolio assets
- Oversee the preparation of working papers and coordination with external accounting firm, coordinate timelines for all engagements (review, notice to readers, T2 returns) for all Harlo entities
- Lead corporate reporting for parent company and holding company assets as well as legacy investment vehicles
- Act as IFRS/ASPE subject matter expert applying sound accounting principles/practices for all financial reports
- Maintaining consistent reporting and positive working relations with our partners, mortgage lenders, banks, financial partners, external accountants/auditors, and any government agencies, representing the company as needed
- Oversee the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements.
- Analyze certain accounts to ensure accuracy and discrepancy resolution
- Support Sr Director, Finance and VP Finance in all bank reporting obligations
- Maintain and modify chart of accounts, as required
- Maintain and ensure consistency in departmental and GL mapping accounts
- Ensure inter-company transactions balance
- Manage legal and organizational documents ensuring all are executed and communicated to tax team as needed
- Support team growth through training initiatives
- Ensure that the company's financial records are current, accurate and complete
What you’ll need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-7 years' experience, with a minimum of 3 years at a national accounting firm
- CPA designation
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Systems including Push Operations, Sage Intacct and ERP systems
- High proficiency in Excel
- Organized team player with exceptional attention to detail
- Persistent in meeting reporting deadlines with an ability to drive results from all parties
- Curious and self-starter attitude with ability to prioritize
- Experience building internal control and financial processes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
