The salary range for this position is:
- Recruitment range: $75,755- $83,525 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: $98,528 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Mandate:
An Administrative Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the faculty and/or department functions efficiently and effectively by managing administrative processes and procedures, supervising staff and coordinating with other departments and colleagues as needed.
Objectives:
- Improve current processes and optimize procedures to ensure the School or Department operates smoothly and effectively.
- Oversee office operations and planning, financial management and assistance to the School Director or Department Chair.
- Support the School or Department leadership to meet long-term planning and academic goals.
- Supervise administrative staff including recruiting, performance development, coaching and workload management.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree plus three years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations.
- Demonstrated experience leading and motivating a team of professionals.
- Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaborative approaches and decision-making in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience creating technical materials such as budget analysis, proposals and presentations.
- Ability to gather, synthesize, evaluate, and interpret information from a variety of sources.
- Ability to learn, navigate and transfer skills relating to data management software (i.e. Banner, FAST, Cascade or equivalents)”.
- Experience working with various social media platforms and how each network can be optimally applied in different scenarios.
- Experience in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Demonstrated proactive judgement and initiative to manage day-to-day operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to apply project management best practices to achieve project goals on time.
- Demonstrated experience providing leadership and supervision to staff in a unionized and diverse environment is an asset.
