Job Information

The Research Coordinator at the Aurora Research Institute (ARI), based in Yellowknife, plays a vital role in supporting and implementing research initiatives that address key environmental management issues across the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Manager of the North Slave Research Centre, the Coordinator works collaboratively with researchers, communities, and partner organizations to conduct fieldwork, manage logistics, analyze data, and contribute to knowledge sharing. This dynamic position requires strong organizational and communication skills, a commitment to research excellence, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to northern research and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and collaborate on research and program delivery activities in communities across the territory.
  • Provide field and laboratory technical support to staff, scientists, instructors, college programs/courses through the North Slave Research Centre.
  • Participate in communications, outreach, and education activities that promote science and research, provide information to the public and various interest groups, and foster engagement between the community and the Aurora Research Institute.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Manager, North Slave Research Centre

To be successful in this role, typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

  • Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences or environmental engineering.
  • 3 years of experience working in an academic, government, or community research environment.
