About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Consultant – Reinsurance Claims to join our growing Global Reinsurance team!
You will be responsible for the timely reporting and collection of ceded reinsurance claims in Canada while supporting these efforts across the entire group - in North America and UK & International. You will do this by analyzing various reports and loss notices to identify any required reinsurance reporting.
You will achieve this by developing excellent working relationships with Claims, Finance, Actuarial and external partners to assist in reinsurance claim reporting and pursuing the collection of claim recoveries. You will work collaboratively with local, regional, and global reinsurance colleagues to achieve these objectives. You will use your analytical skills in the analysis of data and contract wordings to ensure that all reinsurance notices have been communicated to the appropriate parties for prompt advice or recovery.
What you’ll do here:
- Monitor management reports, loss advisory notices, claim information, and ceded reinsurance contracts to identify reinsurance recoveries.
- Review and take action to collect aged reinsurance balances and resolve claims challenges.
- Work closely with brokers and claims analysts to promptly respond to inquiries from reinsurance partners.
- Partner with finance teams to ensure accurate recoveries are booked in the finance system.
- Maintain databases of all reported claims to ensure timely updates are provided to broker/reinsurance partners.
- Support the reinsurance placement process by providing updated claims information.
- Contribute to the implementation of global reinsurance best practices.
- Coordinate reinsurance audits with internal business units, brokers, and reinsurers.
- Perform complex/detailed work with some supervision.
- Exercise independent judgment and decision making in accordance with specified policies and guidelines.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in Claims, handling large direct or Reinsurance claims, working in collections, subrogation or legal claims – is required
- Post Secondary education in Business Administration, Risk Management or Legal Claims.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to process volumes of data – excel – is required**.**
- Demonstrate substantial procedural and/or technical expertise gained through extensive experience, with the ability to analyze complex issues – is required
- Prior reinsurance knowledge.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to develop strong working relationships.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work across teams, geographies and different levels of organization.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
