As an Analyst – Financial Planning within our Business Planning and Analysis Department, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, analyzing, forecasting and reporting on the operating and capital budget, 10 year capital plan, external agreements, new initiatives and providing analytical support to assigned cost centres and special projects.
What will your typical day look like?
- Analyzes, reviews, prepares forecasts and reports internally to Senior Police Management and to external agencies on operating and capital budget financial activities for assigned cost centres.
- Co-ordinates, reviews and consolidates the operating and capital budgets for assigned cost centres for submission to Senior Police Management, the Police Services Board, Regional Council and external agencies.
- Provides financial support to assigned Cost Centre Managers, prepares the financial impact of new initiatives and additional staff, prepares the cost allocation of support services to user departments, develops service user fees, prepares budget and actual redeployments, prepares financial adjustments, year-end accruals, capital project closures, etc.
- Compiles, prepares, reviews, analyzes, reports and forecasts on centralized business activities that may include the salary/wage budget, capital budget and financing plan, partnership agreements, grant programs, the Business Plan and providing analytical support for special projects.
- Develops and maintains database queries used in budget compilation and forecasting.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Enough about us, lets talk about you
You are someone with:
- A University Degree in Business Administration/Accounting or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A professional designation in the field (CPA) is preferred.
- A minimum of three years directly related experience in a financial planning environment required, with an emphasis on general accounting, data management, reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial management policies.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems used in development of financial forecasting models.
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated written communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, research and problem solving skills.

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $71,653.00 to $120,727.00****per annum. The salary is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
