We are looking for a Real Estate Accountant to work on operating cost recovery processing, monthly property financial reporting, audits, and forecasting for a portfolio of retail properties!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete full cycle accounting for a portfolio of assets
  • Maintain the general ledger, including review and preparation of journal entries, accrual of revenue, operating expenses, and capital expenditures
  • Accurately complete required reports including monthly revenue and operating expense budget variance report and balance sheet analysis
  • Co-ordinate and prepare full-year estimates and annual operating budgets with various internal teams
  • Prepare year-end CAM and tax year end invoices and working paper files for external audit
  • Set up and maintain Yardi final recovery module for timely completion of tenant final billings
  • Monthly calculation of cash calls and distributions, where required
  • Review Yardi tenant abstracts for accuracy and data integrity and approve property rent rolls
  • Assist in acquisition and disposition process (due diligence)
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of training (when necessary)
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in full-cycle real estate accounting including final recoveries, year-end audits, exposure to forecasting and budgets, and lease interpretation
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting required, Accounting designation preferred
  • Experience working with Yardi 7S an asset
  • Highly proficient with MS Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple competing priorities within tight deadlines
  • Energetic and self-starting nature
  • Bilingual French and English preferred
