Job Summary:

Black River Logistics Ltd. is seeking a highly organized and proactive Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator with proven experience in coordinating transportation and logistics operations. This role is essential in ensuring smooth dispatching, efficient route planning, and real-time communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes initiative to resolve problems quickly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and dispatch loads or service calls based on customer needs, driver availability, and geographical considerations.
  • Optimize delivery routes to ensure on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain real-time communication with drivers; manage delays or challenges proactively.
  • Liaise with internal department to coordinate logistics effectively.
  • Monitor GPS tracking and transportation systems (e.g., GEO TAB, THERMOKING) to oversee fleet operations.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain and update trip logs, dispatch records, schedules, and incident reports.
  • Respond to customer and driver inquiries quickly and professionally.
  • Review logistics data continuously to identify areas for improvement and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, or transportation planning.
  • Strong working knowledge of TMS, AFM, AEM, and dispatch software.
  • Familiarity with GPS tracking systems (GEO TAB & THERMOKING).
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills to manage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced dispatch environment.
  • Flexibility for variable shifts when required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required; a certificate or degree in logistics/supply chain is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety compliance.
  • Bilingual abilities (especially English/Spanish or English/French) are considered an asset, but not required.
