About the role

Job Brief Lethbridge Public Library is looking for efficient, detail-oriented Pages who will provide excellent customer service through our accurately maintained and attractive collections.

Lethbridge Public Library is looking for efficient, detail-oriented Pages who will provide excellent customer service through our accurately maintained and attractive collections. Top priorities in this role include efficiently and accurately shelving materials in alphabetical and numerical order, shelf reading, being a welcoming and positive presence, and contributing to a supportive team environment.

Your Average Day At LPL As a Page Includes

  • Pushing and pulling carts to move materials throughout the library.
  • Shelf reading, pulling items based on condition or reports, and other tasks related to collection maintenance.
  • May assist with opening circulation procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

What You Need To Bring To This Position

  • Ability to work efficiently while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with general office computer use and basic troubleshooting.
  • Related previous experience and a general interest in public libraries is an asset.
  • Decision making skills and the ability to exercise mature judgment in the best interests of Lethbridge Public Library.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to be culturally aware, non-judgmental and sensitive to the needs of a variety of individuals with differing backgrounds.
  • Must be of legal age to work in a library environment with a level of maturity to confidently work independently.
  • Repetitive nature of the work requires focus and stamina.

Hours of work and location:

  • Up to 75 hours bi-weekly, including day, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • These positions are casual and have no regular or guaranteed hours.
  • The non-permanent (casual) workforce is required to be flexible to cover shifts on evening, weekends and with little notice.
  • Working at both branches, and reporting to Manager: Customer Services.

Salary $15.92 hourly as per C.U.P.E. Local 70 (Library Employees) Collective Agreement (under review)

Note The successful candidate must complete a Police Information Check prior to start date.
