About the role
Overview:
Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager and working closely with procurement on the administration of equipment, materials, supplies, and outside services required for the company’s operations while maintaining a cost-effective quality and service level.
Your Challenges:
- Ensuring diligent application of health and safety policies, and compliance with health and safety legislation
- Liaising with divisional and operational personnel in the research and selection of materials services and costing information
- Monitoring, shipping, tracking, altering, and unloading goods as required
- Support maintenance Work Order Flow Process (Work Orders/Material Management/Job Kits)
- Monitoring, setting up, and stocking inventory items, including the creation and issuance of purchase orders as required
- Counting, tracking, and reconciliation of inventory, attaining 95% accuracy at each site, for Thunder Bay, Atikokan, and Ignace sawmills
- Tracking all VMI inventory for supplier compliance, costs and manage levels accordingly
- Performs cost analysis to ensure quality requirements are met cost effectively
- Maintain part standardization for the region and sharing of critical spares
- Maintaining and updating the purchasing department computerized database
- Continuously researching the opportunities of standardization of parts
- Support vendor contract relationships
- Must be able to produce analytical reports and update according to frequency
- Prioritizing, multi-tasking, and special emphasis on time-sensitive or rush shipments
- All other duties as assigned
Your profile:
- 3 to 5 years of related industry experience
- You have an uncompromising approach to safety
- Supervisory and leadership experience, preferably in a unionized environment
- Ability to work extended hours to complete all tasks and activities as required
- Ability to travel throughout Ontario as required
- Inventory control and procurement experience an asset
- Strong knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Mechanical/Electrical background considered an asset
- Ability to operate a lift truck and perform physical requirements of the position
- Excellent communication, organization, adaptability, and time management skills
- Knowledge of MS Office
