About the role
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, Pharmacy aides perform administrative and organizational tasks in a pharmaceutical setting. They create and maintain patient files, perform basic tasks within the pharmacy software, speak to clients for collecting information and perform credit card handling as part of the pharmacy team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the pharmacist/registered pharmacy technician in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures(P&Ps).
- Inbound and outbound phone calls, collect information for client account and profile, and assist customers.
- Works directly with patient data and complete tasks such as creating patients’ profiles in NAV, updating the pickup bin, charging, and posting orders to be shipped.
- Maintains pharmacy records including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
- Communicates appropriately with all members of the healthcareteam.
- Schedule, track, and process prescription refills in kroll.
- Faxing doctors for refills.
- Documents appropriately according to P&Ps, all activities using required paperwork (logs)
- Performs physical inventory cycle counts as required.
- Assists the pharmacists/ pharmacy assistants in the preparation and labelling of medications/ devices as allowed by law.
- Correct labelling of product
- Correct product chosen and prepared as per processedprescription.
- Places orders for inventory from Mckesson (through Pharma click), and from DEX wholesale (internally).
- Updates the inventory levels in the central database (ERP) by creating purchase orders, receiving orders.
- Creating new drug cards in NAV for new products.
- Establish and adjust stock levels and order quantities using NAV and kroll statistical analysis.
- Ensures that the pharmacy is fully stocked with medications needed.
- Conducts regular cycle counts and updating the counts in both NAV and Kroll, while also communicating information with the main purchasing team.
- Quarantines items from shelf that have expired and requests adjustments from purchasing team, as required.
- Assists the pharmacist in handling drug/product recalls, recovering stock from patients and returning for credit as per the recall notice, while adjusting system inventory counts.
- Performs other duties as assigned
