For over 60 years, Preszler Injury Lawyers has restricted its practice to claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, slip/trip and falls, product liability, sexual assault, wrongful dismissal, accident benefits, disability claims and medical malpractice. Preszler Injury Lawyers only represents Plaintiffs.
Position Overview: We are currently seeking qualified and motivated individuals to join our team as Legal Assistants. As a Legal Assistant at Preszler Injury Lawyers, you will play a crucial role in providing support to our Lawyers and working collaboratively with our Paralegals, and Accident Benefits staff.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the drafting of pleadings, affidavits, and court documents.
- Utilize Actionstep (Soluno) for docketing and tracking all assigned tasks.
- Handle correspondence under the direction of the assigned lawyer.
- Schedule discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and settlement conferences.
- Maintain the lawyer's calendar and file list.
- Liaise with the Accident Benefit’s Department.
- Use MedChart to obtain necessary medical documentation.
- Ensure court filings are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle the service of originating processes.
- Requisition cheques for payment of various invoices.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant is an asset.
- Previous experience in Personal Injury is an asset.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience with our Legal software (Filevine, Actionstep (Soluno), Medchart) is an asset.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of Ontario legal procedures and documentation.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
