Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO, www.youthhubs.ca) is a network of 32, Integrated Youth Services (IYS) hub networks that currently operate in 40 communities, where young people ages 12 to 25 years have walk-in access to youth-centered, community-based mental health and wellness services.
YWHO engages youth, family members, service providers, and other partners through a co-creation process, enhancing the relevance, acceptability, and youth friendliness of services. The hubs are provincially consistent in core features and locally led and adapted to offer and connect to a range of evidence-based services—mental health care, substance use health services, primary care, education, employment, housing, peer support, family support and care navigation—in youth-friendly spaces. Outcomes are rigorously evaluated within and across hubs, focusing on positive outcomes in areas of wellness important to youth and their families.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications within the Public Affairs & Communications team and the Manager, YWHO Site Implementation within YWHO Provincial Office (YWHO PO), and working closely with the YWHO PO Leadership team, the full-time, contract (3 months) Communications Coordinator will help support brand development, promotions and social media presence of YWHO. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a provincial movement that is transforming youth mental health, while supporting alignment with Connected CAMH—our strategic plan to build a more integrated and connected mental health care system.
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for growing YWHO’s social media presence, increasing participation and deepening engagement with YWHO Networks and youth and family advisors. They will develop, plan, write, create, implement and evaluate YWHO social media campaigns in order to reach, inform and engage young people and other audiences regarding Integrated Youth Services. They will use their creative skillset as a writer, blogger, marketer, designer, videographer and story-teller to create, post and promote content on multiple channels. As a valued member of both the Public Affairs & Communications and YWHO teams, the Coordinator plays a key role in advancing shared goals through youth-centered communications.
This role will involve maintaining an editorial content calendar, tracking metrics and analyzing campaign results, and staying abreast of industry best practices, emerging platforms and trends in technology.
The Communications Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring the YWHO website is regularly updated and improved based on youth/family, service provider and YWHO PO staff input as well as create content for the YWHO website.
The Communications Coordinator will work with the YWHO Knowledge Mobilization team to bring creative and design expertise and skills to the development and production of branding, communications and knowledge products for YWHO, in print and electronic media including graphics, photos and video. They will also support the development of tools and methods to ensure regular communications with YWHO Network service providers, youth/family advisories and staff.
The Communications Coordinator will work with the YWHO Implementation team to ensure that the YWHO Brand is being effectively incorporated into the implementation of YWHO at hub sites across the province. The role will include supporting hub leads to incorporate required branding into YWHO hub sites facilities, services and local communications.
You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located in Toronto and will require travel throughout Ontario.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, public relations or other related areas combined with 3–5 years professional experience in social media, digital marketing or online content curation. You will have demonstrated success as a social media and content marketing specialist responsible for managing online communities in a high-profile and fast-paced communications environment.
Proven ability to plan, create, execute and evaluate social media and online strategies and campaigns that engage audiences and achieve results is required. Superior communication skills, impeccable writing, and well-developed digital story-telling skills including the proven ability to write and create quality content quickly for online communities are required. Experience in content curation with a clear understanding of the needs and profile of target audiences, and the ability to translate this into imaginative and compelling content solutions are essential. You will have the ability to capture, edit and post infographic, photo and video content on social media or online channels.
Experience in development of visual identities, building brand awareness, brand implementation, and maintenance of brand identity across multiple entities. Also prior experience with conducting market research, development of marketing strategies and plans and execution and evaluation of marketing campaigns.
You will have proficiency in all Microsoft office programs. Strong skills in design and creation of graphics, logos, website design, branding assets and excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs.
You will be a highly motivated self-starter, team player and relationship builder, able to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and have strong interpersonal skills. Experience with engaging young people in development, user testing/feedback and design of branding assets, graphics and other content will be required. You will have sound and mature judgement and diplomacy. You will also have positive attitude, enthusiasm and confidence. Active listening skills, compassion, tact, with attention to detail are required. Experience working with partners of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds, and a demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, respect, and social justice.
