About the role
1. Summary
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the Material Manager will manage the planner-buyer team as well as the inventory team. Their responsibilities will include coordinating activities related to production planning and purchasing raw materials in North America and overseas.
They will be required to establish the Lachine plant’s requirements in terms of manpower, raw materials, and finished products.

2. Key responsibilities

Lead and support your team using a continuous development approach.

Prepare and manage the master production schedule.

Identify difficult situations in order to find solutions with all relevant stakeholders.

Analyze ad hoc events (e.g., promotions, customer additions, store openings) to determine their impact on production, transportation, and supply. Ensure clear and timely communications.

Follow up throughout the year on the forecasts made by the master planners in order to adjust the master production schedules and production level as needed.

Support the new product development teams by acting as a liaison between the sales/marketing and operations departments.

Ensure the communication tools outlining important upcoming events are up to date.

Calculate safety stocks for interplant products (i.e., products stored in a plant other than the production plant) to ensure a level of service corresponding to the company’s objectives, delivery schedules, and strategic vision.

Actively participate in continuous improvement projects for operations and business processes.
3. Professional skills/qualifications
1) Minimum level of education and/or specialization:
Ø Bachelor of Administration / Operations Management
2) Minimum relevant experience:
Ø 10 years in planning, procurement, and personnel management.
Special skills and requirements:
· Bilingual (written and spoken)
· Analytical skills
· Experience in a manufacturing environment
· Knowledge of SAP (asset)
· Mastery of MS Office (Excel)
· Excellent communication skills
