The Role

The School of Trades Fairview Campus is seeking a Welding Instructor from July 2, 2025, to Aug. 14, 2026. Opportunity of Tenure Track position remains available based on favorable evaluation and budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in helping students achieve their goals and be able to share their interest in this trade with those students. This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to instruct in a variety of courses within the Department, additionally sharing their passion for their trade in both the classroom and the shop.

Duties include:

• Prepare and present classes in both theory and practical settings
• Organize and supervise practical assignments
• Conduct student evaluations
• Maintain necessary paperwork
• Participate in program recruitment and curriculum development.

The successful candidate will have a Red Seal Journeyman Certificate in Welding, B Pressure and related CWB Tickets, and 5 years of industry experience. Teaching experience would be preferred. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

An ability to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.

• Knowledge of current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., Zoom, TEAMS, D2L) are desired.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities.
• Motivated individual who seeks to continuously improve instruction and meet the needs of learners.
• Willingness to work with and support the Teaching & Learning Centre.
• Student-focused.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
• Willingness to collaborate and work within a team.
• A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
• Willingness to support NWP Recruitment events and activities.
