Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, the successful candidate will be responsible for the processing of all payroll transactions which include ensuring that employees are paid accurately, by the pre-determined deadlines, and with all appropriate deductions withheld and remitted as per government regulations.
Responsibilities
To ensure accurate and timely processing of all bi-weekly payroll, bonus payments, salary increases & annual vacation payouts
Assist in controlling transactions posted to the general ledger to ensure accuracy
Create or use reports to assist in the smooth processing of payroll functions
Remit employee's deductions and employer’s contributions to the various governmental agencies by the appropriate due dates
Maintains an accurate payroll system in compliance with company and government requirements
Perform required payroll reconciliation on a timely basis as part of the company’s internal control procedures
Prepare all data in respect with T4 and RL1 (annual earnings slips)
Maintain, create and prepare formulas as they relate to the automated payroll systems
Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
Maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to staff and employee salary administration
Qualifications
A post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Accounting is required
2-5 years of direct payroll experience (preferably in an industrial setting) is required
A strong business orientation and customer focus with an ability to communicate to all levels of the business
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to adhere to and meet strict, non-negotiable deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
Financial systems experience with Mincom Ellipse and Empath would be an asset
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts OR Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.)
