The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a temporary full time Marketing Advisor to cover a maternity leave to create impact through fun, educational, and meaningful marketing initiatives.
This role plays a crucial role in developing and executing marketing strategies to promote experiences at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. The Marketing Advisor collaborates with cross-functional teams and supports various marketing initiatives ranging from campaign creation, media planning, website content management, and understanding built on campaign analysis and customer engagement. They are responsible for implementing marketing tactics that resonate with the target audience, boost brand awareness, and generate conversions.

Contract:
- Start Date: August 2025
- End Date: October 2026
What you will do:
Marketing Campaigns:
- Participate in the development of marketing strategies, considering target audience, market trends, and competitive landscape.
- Assist in creating marketing plans for implementation across different channels, including digital, social media, email, print, and events, including defining objectives, timelines, and budget allocation.
- Collaborate with agency partners and internal graphic designers on campaigns development and execution.
Digital Marketing:
- Execute digital marketing campaigns, including social media advertising, search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and email marketing.
- Create compelling and keyword-optimized content campaign content for the website.
- Monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics, optimizing strategies for better results.
Branding and Identity:
- Assist in maintaining brand consistency and integrity across all marketing communications.
- Collaborate with design teams to develop visual assets, logos, and branding elements as needed.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Analyze marketing campaigns' performance metrics and produce detailed reports.
- Provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement and better ROI.
Other duties:
- Monitor departmental inbox.
- Respond to ticket donation and media or marketing services inquiries into the inbox.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, or a related field. Relevant certifications or specialized training in marketing is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience in marketing, digital marketing, or other related roles.
- Proficiency in using marketing software, analytics tools, and social media platforms.
- Strong understanding of market research and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and the ability to think outside the box.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Results-oriented with a focus on achieving marketing objectives and KPIs.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in marketing.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office based with long periods working at a computer
- Some lifting (heavy boxes, signs, tables etc)
- May work evenings and weekends
- May involve long periods of standing
The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
