About the role

Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd. is hiring an experienced Quality Control Lead, who will work directly under the Quality Control Manager and play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day quality inspection activities within our manufacturing facilities. As the Lead you will ensure that projects meet technical and code specifications, support team performance, and champion continuous quality improvement across production and inspection teams.

**Location:Innisfail, AlbertaSchedule:**Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the Quality Control team to execute inspection and compliance protocols.
  • Partner with the Quality Control Manager to align goals, support strategic initiatives, and ensure consistent application of quality standards across all projects.
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure conformity with client and code requirements.
  • Approve in-process and finished products through visual and measurement inspections.
  • Work with ABSA and clients for sign ons ,inspections , and sign offs of projects.
  • Provide technical guidance on welding procedures, NDE methods, and ASME Code compliance.
  • Schedule and coordinate NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) activities and review results.
  • Interpret X-Ray films, NDE reports, PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treat) data, and hydro test results.
  • Oversee document control, including MTRs, inspection logs, weld summaries, and tech packages.
  • Review and close NCRs (Non-Compliance Reports) and lead corrective actions.
  • Support internal and client audits, including documentation preparation and on-site walkthroughs.
  • Prepare for, lead, and conduct ASME audits.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
  • Mentor and evaluate inspectors and welders to ensure quality competencies are maintained.
  • Uphold Bilton’s safety standards and ensure compliance with PPE and shop protocols.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • CWB Level 1 or 2 certification (required).
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or journeyperson certification.
  • Strong understanding of ASME Codes, welding processes, pressure vessels, and fabrication standards.
  • Experience leading quality teams in a manufacturing or shop environment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
