In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Information Technology, Enterprise Applications Section is currently hiring for a Senior Information Systems Analyst (SISA).

The Enterprise Applications Section is responsible for supporting all business applications, including Maximo, Cribmaster, P6, Workday, ServiceNow, Aveva, and more. Various groups such as Nuclear Operations, Work Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, MCR, Outages, and others depend on this team to ensure their technology platforms remain stable and effective.

The Senior Information Systems Analyst will support the Enterprise Applications Section with a focus Enterprise solutions and offer IT services in the form of incident and problem management, project contribution including design, planning and execution, and continuous improvement through advanced planning and on-going prioritization, for a large portfolio of business users across Bruce Power.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain Branch business and office information management systems strategies, standards, policies, guidelines and architectural framework.
  • Develop and make effective recommendations on the adoption of policies, practices and procedures including associated work methods.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and instruction to personnel in the division regarding interpretation and explanation of new information management systems policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Establish standards to assist the Manager in the development of an integrated and/or interfaced information management framework.
  • Work with users, line unit support staff, consultants, and vendors to identify opportunities for new applications or enhancements.
  • On assigned projects, work with a senior project leader in planning, coordinating, designing, developing, implementing, operating, and maintaining Branch information systems. Frequently act as the team leader.
  • Provide a minimum set of standard and supported applications, operating systems and communications protocols.
  • Assist the Manager in reviewing and providing assessments of Branch system proposals and monitoring of their implementation and operation.
  • Under the guidance of the Manager, provide a consulting service related to the computing (hardware and software) systems and information technology needs of the Branch. Define the problem areas and develop alternative approaches for solution and their effect upon related aspects of the Branch's and line units' budgets. Provide data, advice and support to management and staff within the Branch line units.
  • Prepare and make presentations on all aspects of systems development. Develop and provide direct training to users whenever it is more cost-effective or customized training is more desirable.
  • Maintain inventory records on all computer hardware, software and communication components within the Branch as a basis for assisting in the preparation of a consolidated information technology business plan and budget.
  • As required, represent the department on committees or task forces both internal and external to Bruce Power and influence parties to comply with actions beneficial to the Branch's interest.
  • Act as a consultant in providing technical guidance and support to students, local support staff, and consultants.
  • Set the priorities of the team including consideration of department goals, project requirements, strategic roadmap, end of life and lifecycle planning
  • Provides technical direction to analysts; deep dives for complex issues that need resolution. Ensures quality execution of changes from an oversight perspective.
  • Works with architecture team on technical design solutions and roadmaps.
  • Where applicable, support Service Delivery Lead or Project Managers in creation of schedule and forecasts and provides reports to leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Enterprise Application capabilities including technical administration; troubleshooting of software, configuration or user access problems; and awareness of business processes of Supply Chain, Work Management, Human Resources, Finance and Training.
  • Experience maintaining system health, patching, general maintenance, security compliance, and managing high volume of operational tickets.
  • Experience participating in the technical aspects of projects including evaluation of technical components in the acquisition or modification of software, hardware, technology, systems and products as well as planning, scheduling and estimating resources, providing technical expertise, coordination, monitoring progress and providing management with project status updates.
  • Implementation and support of commercial off the shelf and custom applications on desktop, servers, and databases.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop and server administration and configuration.
  • Knowledge of SQL server, Oracle, and Linux to support the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Knowledge of JAMS Scheduler, ACE, Informatica or similar integration tools.
  • Experience with the development and maintenance of Centura/OpenText Gupta Team Developer Applications, and migration of legacy applications to the new version of OpenText Gupta Team Developer is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure and .NET programing is an asset.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning applications is considered an asset:
  • Administration and maintenance of large commercial off-the-shelf packages
  • Enterprise Resource Planning and Enterprise Asset Management solutions of: Workday, CribMaster, SAP Ariba, ServiceNow
  • Enterprise Content Management solutions of: Content Server, Aconex
  • Enterprise Project Portfolio Management solutions of: P6, Ecosys or ARM

Education and Experience:

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of university training in a related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, etc), or having the equivalent level of education.
  • A period of over 8 years and up to and including 10 years in an IT related systems administration and/or network support role is considered necessary to gain this experience
