About the role
Job Summary: As a Lead Shipper/Receiver, you will be responsible for overseeing the flow of goods in and out of our organization. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely shipments and receipts of products, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating with various departments/branches to facilitate smooth operations. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
This role is expected to start as temporary/hourly, which may then become permanent, based on experience and growth.
Responsibilities:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify the accuracy of items received against packing slips or purchase orders using ERP Software (Syteline).
- Inspect goods for damage, and report discrepancies or damages to the appropriate personnel.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling items according to shipping requirements and customer orders through ERP Software (Syteline).
- Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely shipment of goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems and physical counts.
- Organize and maintain the warehouse or storage areas to ensure efficient space utilization and cleanliness.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, including purchasing, production, and sales, to coordinate shipment schedules and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Handle shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs paperwork, ensuring compliance with regulations and company procedures.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
- Assist in conducting periodic inventory audits to reconcile discrepancies and ensure inventory accuracy.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support inventory, warehouse and/or logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Proficiency in using computerized inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling paperwork and inventory records.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with internal teams, external vendors, and carriers.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperature conditions.
