The Injection Molding Machine Technician / Maintenance Technician Level 5 is a hybrid role responsible for providing technical service and support for Husky's injection molding systems, while also executing advanced maintenance strategies for CNC and automation cells within the FOF/Molds facility. This role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance of complex mechanical and electronic systems with a priority on molding operations, while also supporting predictive maintenance programs and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform setup, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Husky injection molding systems.
  • Provide technical support to internal customers, acting as a lead or mentor to team members when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and correct hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and programmable control system issues.
  • Calibrate machines for optimal production performance and maintain consistent operational standards.
  • Provide system setup and startup support for molding equipment.
  • Analyze and interpret data from vibration and heat analysis to support predictive maintenance.
  • Maintain all CNC and automation equipment to meet TEEP goals in the FOF/Molds facility.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks and refine existing maintenance procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues (Fanuc, Siemens, Kuka), and coordinate with integrators and suppliers as needed.
  • Provide guidance to customer operators and other technicians on safe operation and maintenance practices.
  • Document maintenance activities and service interventions in CMMS and provide detailed reports to the Service or Maintenance Team Leader.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen, 5S, and EH&S compliance.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of injection molding process and plastic materials (PET, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Styrene).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex machinery using systematic approaches.
  • Knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens) and robotics (Fanuc/Kuka).
  • Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system assembly experience.
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Ability to lead problem-solving and root cause analysis efforts.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related Engineering/Technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in injection molding equipment service, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • 3–5 years of experience maintaining CNC equipment and robotics.
  • Red Seal Millwright certification is an asset.
