Please note this is a 10-month contract position. Schedule
- Sunday to Wednesday, and Saturday, 9:30am to 6:00pm
Responsibilities
- Be attentive to residents’ needs
- Prepare meals using various cooking techniques and established recipes
- Ensuring meals are appropriately served and portioned
- Following guidelines, food safety standards, and established cleaning and sanitization practices to ensure the cleanliness of cooking equipment and work areas
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
Experience And Educational Requirements
- 4 years of experience as a cook, must be familiar with hot food preparation
- High School Diploma
- Certification of mandatory training in public health and sanitation
- Food Handling Permit
- Knowledge of retirement homes and institutional environment is an asset
Non-Technical Requirements
- Must be able to work alone (closing duties required)
- Must be proactive and take own initiative
- Keen sense of customer service
- Flexibility with schedule and ability to adapt
