About the role

Athabasca University's Division of VP Finance and Operations is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Facilities Assistant.

The Position

Reporting to the Coordinator, Building Maintenance and Projects, the Facilities assistant is an integral member of the Facilities and Services team, responsible for supporting optimal and efficient building operations and grounds maintenance services and support. This position will be responsible for regular duties along with ad hoc tasks, with the requirement to be able to pivot duties and adjust priorities as required. Effective and efficient communication and organization skills are required, along with always ensuring a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • High-School Diploma required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, drivers abstract with good driving record is required.
  • 1-3 years progressive experience working with grounds and/or building maintenance.
  • Valid skid steer, forklift, chainsaw, sweeper and mower operations certificate, or willingness to participate in applicable operations certification and maintain such certification is required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs safely.
  • Must be able to conduct physical/manual tasks throughout the majority of the workday. Understanding of how to operate within and maintain a safe work environment is required.
  • Experience in customer service and/or effective communication skills considered an asset.
