Position Summary Leads and manages the Cost for Price process in collaboration with key stakeholders on the Merchandising & Marketing Service Center (MMSC) Team, Sales, and Revenue Management with the goal of executing strategies for achieving optimized pricing, Brand Cost Indexing (BCI) being a core focus.. Provides in-depth analysis, reporting, and recommendations regarding the execution of product matching, pricing rule development, as well as rule validation and ongoing compliance. Responsible for end-to-end process optimization and overseeing the automation of process tasks.

Location: The successful candidate should be able to commute to the Milton, Ajax, or Amherst DC at least 4 days a week.

Essential Functions Communication & Relationship Building

  • Communicates key KPIs and Reporting .
  • Maintains regular contact with key stakeholders to understand shifting cost and pricing strategies,iIndexing rule changes, as well as communicating progress on specific activity and concerns.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to Implement approved cost, cost for price, and pricing changes.

Category & Vendor Management

  • Identifies new Gordon Food Service private branded products for entry into the BCI process .
  • Implements approved products, matches, and indexing rules.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to make approved cost, cost for price, and pricing changes using required forms and including appropriate detail and timing.
  • Creates and manages standardized reporting to support cost for price competitiveness.
  • Utilizes tolerance-based reporting to identify actionable items.
  • Develops a strategy for Following - Leading item price change synchronization.
  • Improves ranges/rules for items using Cost data and syndicated benchmarks so that our brands can be much more aligned with and responsive to local market changes.

Business Analytics

  • Collects, analyzes, summarizes, and presents KPIs and financial performance data to improve and optimize margin performance.
  • Responsible for acquisition, accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of BCI Leading and Following Item core product data information.
  • Collaborates with technical experts to develop and maintain process and reporting automation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Marketing / Product - Identification of key product attributes in order to identify potential product matches.
  • Project Management Skills - Able to understand, follow and create processes in order to complete projects.
  • Self Management - Must have good time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to complete assigned work on time and on budget. Must be results-oriented and have excellent team skills.
  • Customer Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Business Acumen - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Data Analysis / Analytics Skills - Proficiency in analyzing information; able to use analytics and associated tools (e.g., Google Suite, Excel, Microstrategy) in creative ways to tell the product story, garner buy-in, provide insights and to support decision-making.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Speaking and Writing — Requires effective verbal, written, and presentation skills in order to support projects, convey findings, share strategies and implement product marketing/merchandising presentations, or to sell an idea in a variety of ways including written correspondence, face-to-face, or group meetings.
  • Coordination — Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.

Equipment / Tools / Technology

  • Word processing, presentation, and email software applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Google applications
  • Proprietary sales and margin performance reporting systems (i.e., MicroStrategy, DecisionKey, Direct Link, IDS/Retalix) Photocopier, fax, phone, calculator, PC/Laptop, teleconferencing equipment, general office equipment
  • High School / Equivalent, High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • One to two years of product / category knowledge or previous marketing experience preferred as typically obtained through a bachelor’s prepared education or a combination of applicable on-the-job experience and education, or an internship.
