Iris's client, one of the world's largest multinational Investment banking and financial services corporation is looking to hire a Senior Java developer – Bigdata Technologies for a Long-Term opportunity.

Work Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid Onsite – 3 to 4 days a week)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Java Developer with experience in Big Data technologies to join our fast-paced engineering team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience developing scalable microservices using Spring Boot and be proficient in Big Data frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka. You will play a key role in designing and building data-driven backend services and real-time processing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain robust backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.

• Build and integrate scalable RESTful Web Services for internal and external use.

• Work on big data processing pipelines using Apache Spark, Hadoop, and related technologies.

• Implement data ingestion and streaming solutions using Apache Kafka.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, DevOps, and product owners.

• Write clean, efficient, and testable code, adhering to best software development practices.

• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning sessions.

• Troubleshoot and resolve performance, scalability, and data integrity issues.

Required Skills :

• Strong years of experience with Java development.

• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and microservices design patterns.

• Experience with RESTful API development and integration.

• Hands-on experience with Big Data tools, including:

• Apache Spark

• Apache Kafka

• Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, etc.)

• Familiarity with distributed systems and parallel data processing.

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).

• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.

• Good understanding of software development best practices and Agile methodologies.
