About the role
Illuminated Escapes is Canada's first transparent, illuminated and Bluetooth-equipped hybrid kayak-canoe, SUP and waterbike rental company, offering unique, immersive, and unforgettable experiences. As we embark on our fifth season, we are currently seeking a Site Manager for our Toronto, ON site along the lakeshore.
As Site Manager, you will be managing the day-to-day operations, ensuring overall efficiency, equipment maintenance, reservation bookings and customer satisfaction.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Welcoming guests, validating and/or processing their reservations
- Processing payments via POS devices.
- Providing exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and mitigating online booking challenges.
- Responsible for managing day-to-day booking activities such as rescheduling, cancelling, refunding customer reservations.
- Supervise staff and customer activities on land and in the water, providing support when needed.
- Delegate staff roles and responsibilities with respects to the required daily operations.
- Manage scheduling activities for all site staff.
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (eg. attendance, incident/accident reports, equipment inspections, daily inventory updates).
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Policies & Procedures, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
- Maintain emergency preparedness and coordinate emergency response in emergency situations.
- Keep up-to-date with weather and water condition updates and communicate these to staff.
- Ensure daily site set-up is adequate for daily operations.
- Ensure equipment (kayaks, paddleboards and waterbikes) are inspected and adequate for operations.
Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Committed to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels internally and externally.
- Demonstrate ability to operate successfully in a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks and communicate effectively.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to deliver under high pressure situation.
- Some Heavy lifting required; must be able to lift up to 40 pounds (19 kilos).
- The job duties require manually handling rental equipment which may consist of bending, kneeling and/or standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to swim and/or are comfortable in water as employees may have to enter water.
- Exposure to weather conditions such as heat, sun, rain, humidity may occur.
Preferred (but not required):
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card (or be willing to obtain prior to their first shift).
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C Certification, which must be dated no more than 2 years from the certification date.
- National Lifeguard Certificate which must be dated no more than 2 years from the certification date.
- Fire Extinguisher Training
- Ministry of Labour (MOL) Supervisor’s Health and Awareness in 4 Steps
- Employee Customer Service Training for Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
While previous experience in a managerial role is preferred, we are willing to consider candidates with strong leadership qualities and a passion for providing excellent customer service.
