About the role

Role summary

As a Laboratory Supervisor you will play a key role in execution of lab-based operations, managing day-to-day workflows within an accredited environment. Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, you will coordinate laboratory projects that intersect with clinical studies, R&D, and analytical validation. You will ensure technical protocols are executed with excellence, data quality is maintained, and lab technicians are supported through effective planning and coordination of laboratory activities.

Responsibility Snapshot

Laboratory supervision

  • Coordinate clinical laboratory activities in alignment with study timelines and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, R&D, and quality teams.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of lab activities in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of regulatory requirements.

Technical execution and oversight

  • Execute and coordinate routine laboratory workflows including processing and analyzing of clinical samples following standardized operating procedures.
  • Collection, receiving and (inter)national transportation of a variety of biological specimens in accordance with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and Transportation of Dangerous Goods guidelines.
  • Track inventory of reagents, supplies, and consumables; coordinate procurement
  • Ensure accurate sample tracking and data entry into LIMS
  • Support method development and technical validation of new lab protocols.
  • Operation, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.

Leadership and quality

  • Train and mentor junior lab personnel and interns.
  • Performing quality control by methods such as identifying instrument malfunction and/or out of control test results, taking and documenting all corrective actions following established protocols.
  • Identify risks or bottlenecks and proactively implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area according to established procedures and storing items in appropriate areas.
  • Participate in audits and quality system reviews.

  • You have experience in handling biological samples, performing nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, preparation of reagents and media, and bacterial culturing.

  • You are able to prepare reagents, standards, perform quality control and basic instrument troubleshooting.
  • You are process oriented and diligent in your work.
  • You have the ability to multi-task.
  • You have strong analytical skills.
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
  • You are reliable and open to a flexible schedule.
  • Experience working in an accredited laboratory is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field in science.
  • 3+ years of recent experience working in a laboratory within a microbiology or molecular diagnostics designation.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems, sample tracking and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft 365 and MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with lab and biosafety procedures and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time
