About the role

At SMS Equipment, our Strategic Account Manager is responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with current important large strategic customers and build a pipeline of new customers.

This position offers a hybrid work environment, providing the opportunity to work remotely for a portion of the week.

Our ideal candidate may be located in either Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB.

The salary for this position is $92,000 plus commission.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement long and short-term business strategies, create tailored sales plans, assist in setting income budgets for major accounts, and coordinate with internal teams to meet revenue, profit, and machine count objective, ensuring profitable growth for the company.
  • Acts as a customer representative for SMS Equipment and as focal point for communication. Maintain consistent communication with branch personnel and support teams to ensure a seamless customer experience across the region. Build strong relationships through regular calls and interactions with customers, offering solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead strategic account planning processes, setting mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and milestones with customers. Quote, negotiate, and rent equipment to Major Accounts, while staying involved in all aspects of customer relations, including sales, pricing, and goodwill.

This role requires travel throughout Western Canada up to 70% of the time.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Strategic Sales or Major Account Management experience, ideally with thorough knowledge of service operations. Additional requirements include:

  • Strong sales skills and ability to deliver engaging presentations to all audience levels.
  • Proven success in growing sales market.
  • Excellent communication and business acumen.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of Komatsu equipment is an asset.
