POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK

REPORTS TO: Accounts Payable Manager

WORK SCHEDULE: Regular, Full-Time, Days

Position Summary: Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Accounts Payable Clerk will perform various accounting, clerical, and administrative duties

Position Responsibilities:

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for the following:

  • Perform data entry associated with accounts payable;
  • Prepare vendor invoices for weekly cheque run;
  • Execute the weekly cheque run;
  • Execute monthly cheque run for spiff payments;
  • Obtain proper authorization for invoices from relevant departments;
  • Accurately review, code, and process invoices into Syspro;
  • Review and reconcile vendor invoices and statements and address discrepancies;
  • Calculate supplier discounts where applicable and issue payments in a timely manner;
  • Address and respond to vendor inquiries;
  • Responsible for all Accounts Payable filing;
  • Back Up for Invoicing as needed;
  • Participate in Month End and Year End Closing as required; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and high demand environment;
  • Must be capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines;
  • Must be resourceful and possess a strong attention to detail and a good analytical ability;
  • Must demonstrate proven time management, organizational, and multitasking skills;
  • Must be able to work independently within a team setting;
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Must demonstrate sound judgement and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Accounting (or related field) from a recognized college/institution;
  • Minimum two (2) years practical/hands-on accounting experience;
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles;
  • Strong is MS Office and Excel required;
  • Experience with Syspro is considered an asset; and
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and fluent in English.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting; and
  • Prolonged sitting at a computer workstation.
