Thunder Airlines is looking to hire a qualified Primary Care Flight Paramedic to join our Air Ambulance team. For over 25 years, Thunder Airlines has established itself as a leader in pre-hospital care providing Air Ambulance services on behalf of Ornge. As a Flight Paramedic you will be working independently to facilitate emergent and non-urgent patient transfers throughout the province of Ontario. Our Paramedics will also be given the opportunity to work on our Medical Transfer Service (MTS) vehicle which is tasked with moving patients to and from the airport and Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre. This unique working environment allows Paramedics to gain experience in both ground and air phases of the transfer environment.
The successful candidate will be offered a full-time position at our Thunder Bay base. Shifts will be scheduled on 7-day rotations (7 ON, 7 OFF) or if preferred, 14 day rotations (14 ON, 14 OFF) may be considered. While on shift, paramedics are on call and are dispatched from home between 0400h and 1600h.
Our Paramedics receive a guaranteed base salary plus a minimum flight bonus for each on call shift. Flight bonuses starting at $50/hr mean that while flying, paramedics earn upwards of $74/hr. In addition to salary and flight bonuses, signing and retention bonuses are provided for new hires who remain in good standing.
We are also pleased to provide travel benefits with commercial airlines that allows all employees, their friends, and family to fly at significantly discounted rates.
Candidates are required to hold a current A-EMCA certificate, class "F" drivers licence and have completed, or be in the process of completing, the Ornge Aeromedical Theory course. Additional qualifications/certification requirements must be met as outline in the Ambulance Act (O. Reg. 257/00) however, paramedics are able to work for a period of 210 days prior to completing the MOH Aeromedical Exam. Certification as a PCP(f) will be arranged by Thunder Airlines through the Ornge Base Hospital program once all required documentation has been obtained.
