Join our team
We are seeking someone to provide exceptional customer service and information to visitors and customers at the Kingston Humane Society. You will greet customers, answer phones, return calls, and answer questions. You will handle animals, particularly cats and dogs. You will be responsible for the intake of lost or stray animals, handle animals going to and from foster homes, and work with volunteers. You’ll assist customers with other items such as the purchase of pet licenses, cashier duties, some filing and other administrative tasks. This position will be cross-trained to support the animal care team, including kennel maintenance, feedings and monitoring of shelter animals.
Rotating shifts of Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Weekends 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., typically, working two weekends per month. Paid 'On-Call' responsibilities will be required on an as needed basis.
Experience handling animals is required. In addition experience working in one of the following areas; cashier, office assistant or customer service representative will be seen as assets. Candidates with skills which include data entry, multi-line phone, and cash register are also assets. Candidates with experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal facility will be given first consideration.
