The Opportunity
Reporting to the Supervisor, IT Operations, the IT Operations Support Technician will provide IT operational and technical support to all Town of Caledon staff and sites to ensure timely response to users’ requests and issues. This position will support the End User support team by providing timely imaging of computer equipment and deploying hardware and software as required. They will work with other team members to enhance the delivery of end user computing services to the Town’s employees. Act as a backup resource for the Helpdesk where resources have become depleted. Provide AV (audio/visual) services and support to all Town owned facilities as required, including the planning of upgrades to AV equipment. They will work with the Network and Infrastructure team to provide general networking support and participate, as required in cyber security initiatives and reviews. Under the guidance of the Senior Network Integrator, participate in networking new installs and upgrades. Provide a resource to the team as required in the areas of printer support, camera projects and support and other related issues. Provide “white glove” services to Mayor and Councilors, along with advance support to senior management.
As the Support Technician, IT Operations you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Support the Helpdesk for user issues, including “white glove” services to Mayor and Councilors, along with advance support to senior management.
- Support the end user team, in deploying images and developing enhanced user support.
- Provide audio/visual support to all users and facilities within the town.
- Plan and deploy new hardware and software upgrades as required.
- Work with the networking team to provide general networking support, as required, and participate in small/medium size projects to enhance knowledge skills.
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced professional with a post-secondary diploma in Computer Science or a related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of one (1) year related experience in IT Service Desk/Help Desk or End User Computing. Certification in ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Comp TI+ network certification would be considered an asset.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated working knowledge demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Windows Operating system and Basis knowledge of networking and infrastructure. We are seeking an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to give, obtain and/or exchange routine information.
The successful candidate for Support Technician, IT Operations will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers a salary range of $76,577.52 to $95,721.90 plus a competitive benefit package.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
