Job Description:
Coordinating with the Director of Operations and Housing Management Team, the Tenant Support Administrative Assistant (Summer Student) will be responsible for supporting low-income tenants who reside in affordable housing owned and managed by RAHHS. This role will be a vital part of developing the organization’s tenant support programming and building documentation related to supportive services.
Key responsibilities
- Working with staff to organize an internal digital documentation system regarding tenant relations, including: Organizing digital files; creating folders and subfolders for easy navigation for staff who require access; Uploading documents to the tenant management database; and Ensuring appropriate staff members have the correct access to digital systems
- Building an understanding of tenant support activities, and developing comprehensive documentation that will guide a standardization of processes for supportive staff
- Developing a comprehensive list of RAHHS’ community partners and resources for staff and tenants
- Assist with planning and attending community events at various buildings owned and managed by RAHHS, with the intention of allowing tenants to socialize and/or neighbours to welcome new tenants to the neighbourhood
- Building the Cultural Awareness Program in partnership with service providers, including: Making connections with community partners who provide cultural sensitivity teaching for staff; Assessing the cultural needs of tenants and connecting with community resources to provide support; and Planning/attending tenant engagement events at various buildings owned and managed by RAHHS, with the intention of integrating Canadian newcomers with their community and neighbours
- Sourcing community resources and connecting the general tenant population with appropriate partners where partnerships do not currently exist within the community
- General administration tasks, including and not limited to: filing documents, organizing storage areas, etc.
- Assisting with the move-in process
- Other tasks may be requested as needed
Qualifications
This position is part of the Canadian Summer Student Job Grant, and therefore, candidates must be youth between the ages of 18-29 years old. Other qualifications are as follows:
- Must be legally able to work in Canada, with status as a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Status Refugee
- Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and culturally diverse groups; preference for a student working towards a degree in Human Services such as Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent studies
- Good computer knowledge with an ability to learn how to use new systems; familiarity with Google Suite is an asset
- Attention to detail
- Customer service skills, with some experience in dealing with marginalized populations
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Strong organization skills; Employees must be able to easily follow your work processes and find documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Hours and Compensation
This is a temporary part-time (0.5 FTE) position, with a nine-week contract from the date of your first working shift. The position will offer a monthly compensation based on a pay rate of $18.00 per hour based on a 30.0 hour work week. Hours are scheduled from 9:00am-3:00pm from Monday through Friday. We are located at 9430-111 Ave, Edmonton, AB.
Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory background check and criminal record check within 10 days of employment.
